Η 2K Games ανακοίνωσε πριν απο λίγες μέρες ότι η συνέχεια του Mafia είναι ήδη στα σκαριά,χωρίς ωστόσο να ανακοινώσει πότε περίπου θα κυκλοφορήσει στην αγορά.Σύμφωνα με την ανακοίνωση της εταιρίας, η υπόθεση του παιχνιδιού θα διαδραματίζεται στα τέλη της δεκαετίας του '40 - αρχές δεκαετίας του '50 και όπως είναι φυσικό θα επικεντρώνεται στους γκάνγκστερ,τόσο με κυνηγητό στους δρόμους μιάς φανταστικής πόλης,όσο και με τρομακτικές οδομαχίες ανάμεσα σε συμμορίες.Η εταιρία υπόσχεται να καθηλώσει τους χρήστες με τα γραφικά και τα ειδικά εφέ, καθώς και με δράση που όμοιά της συναντά κανείς μόνο σε ταινίες του Χολιγουντ, κάτι το οποίο όπως φαίνεται,επιβεβαιώνεται από το trailer του παιχνιδιού.Το Mafia 2 αναπτύσσεται για κονσόλες "νέας γενιάς", όπως αναφέρει χαρακτηριστικά η εταιρία,καθώς και για PC.
